EF-111A 66-047 among first aircraft in Desert Storm

EF-111A 66-047 Flies 36 combat missions during Desert Storm

The EF-111s were among the first aircraft over Iraq and Kuwait when the war began. They effectively jammed enemy radar, making it almost impossible for the Iraqis to detect incoming Coalition aircraft. They had the ability to loiter for standoff jamming longer than any other ECM aircraft. Also, unlike other dedicated ECM aircraft, it can fly deep into and out of enemy territorty along with the supersonic aircraft it is protecting.
